Today, the governor of Texas, Rick Perry, came out against the required year-over-year increase of ethanol in gasoline products. He made his point in an ever-so-Texan turn of phrase:
"When you find yourself in a hole, you have to quit digging," Mr. Perry said in an interview. "And we are in a hole."
Linguistic aesthetics aside, this is really interesting as it seems that the tide may finally be turning against the abomination that is biofuel. As John Oliver pointed out in his weekly podcast, using corn for biofuels is the ultimate slap in the face of developing nations - you may not have enough food to feed yourselves, but we'll continue burning the food we do have to run our cars.[via NYT]
